Garden Farms is proud to grow with our Oregon community
After a free at-home consultation, we can upgrade existing garden beds or install our custom garden boxes filled with the best local growing soil and all organic amendments. We also provide state-of-the-art water efficient irrigation systems. From our zone-specific plant catalog, we help you choose the best crops and varieties for your garden based on the season of the year and the foods you like to eat. For the “do-it-yourselfer” this is it!
Many people have questions about how to grow food in our maritime climate. We provide a free consultation for all vegetable gardens, whether they be residential gardens, community (housing units, businesses, parks, etc.) or cooperative gardens (schools, church centers, veterans centers etc.), as well as fruit trees and edible landscaping. Give us a call and we can help you with all your gardening needs!
If lack of time or knowledge keeps you from growing your own fresh food, we offer full service maintenance for your garden. We will visit your garden on a weekly or biweekly basis to ensure all plants are thriving and growing properly throughout our cold and warm-weather growing seasons. We use only natural, organic and non-synthetic methods to supplement, manage pests, and create a natural balance in your garden. We make adjustments to your garden based on its individual needs, and continue to care for plants as they grow. Finally, we’ll teach you the best harvesting techniques, or if you’d prefer, even leave it at your door as it ripens and is ready to eat!
Garden Farms of Oregon cofounders Jon and Tiffany Whisenant both grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tiffany spent much time with her family between Nevada and Oregon and, as someone enamored with the natural world, Jon fell in love with the Oregon life Tiffany knew. After settling in Eugene, Jon and Tiffany partnered with Garden Farms to create Garden Farms of Oregon, bringing their joy of backyard vegetable gardening to families and communities in the Willamette Valley.
Having received a degree in Environmental Horticulture at the College of Southern Nevada, Tiffany cofounded the nonprofit Great Basin Permaculture in an effort to educate Nevadans about permaculture design, water conservation, and energy. She and Jon worked with the community to build a thriving Demonstration Garden in the center of Las Vegas. Shortly thereafter, Tiffany became the General Manager for Garden Farms of Nevada, guiding the framework of sustainable food production for hundreds of families, communities, schools and organizations.
After making the move to Oregon, Jon pursued his deep interest in botany as the Operations Manager of Green World Plant Nursery. Tiffany joined the School Garden Project, educating hundreds of Lane County students about the basics of growing food.
Jon and Tiffany are in love with creating a thriving garden farm in their own Eugene backyard, enjoying misty mornings spent plodding out to the garden, coffee in hand, two wonderful daughters alongside them, tucking in seeds and nibbling on snap peas. Garden Farms of Oregon was created to help others in the Willamette Valley experience this true joy of growing their own food.
