LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Calling all garlic lovers! The best stinkin’ event is happening in Henderson when the annual Garlic Festival returns to Pumpkin Park. The festival hosted by Garden Farms of Nevada, is dedicated to the smelly, yet tasty plant species.

Garlic is a species of bulbous flowering plant in the genus Allium. It is closely related to the onion, shallot, and chive. It’s known for its strong, pungent, and slightly spicy taste that makes it a culinary staple in the kitchen. It’s also used for medicinal benefits for the human body.

Garden Farms’ Annual Garlic Festival features events such as garlic braiding, pickling, dehydrating, and harvesting. You can also learn how to make garlic powder and flavored butter. Garlic lovers can even taste some garlic-inspired dishes from local chefs and artisans.

The festival takes place on Saturday, July 6 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Pumpkin Park located at 405 Drake Street in Henderson. The closest major cross-streets are E. Warm Springs Road and N. Major Avenue. Click here for more information.
